A joke - to fill the gaps until I start writing blogs again...

Prime Minister, Tony Blair, was visiting a school when a teacher asked him if he would care to lead the class discussion on semantics. Tony smugly chose the word ‘tragedy' and asked the class to give an example of its use.

One boy stood up and said, “If my girlfriend, Suzie, who lives on a farm, was playing near the cesspit, and fell in, and her dad stuck a fork through her chest and killed her, that would be a tragedy.”
“No,” said Blair, “that would be an accident.”

Keli, raised her hand and suggested: “If there was a nuclear war that killed all the blokes but left the girls alive and last bloke on earth lost his testicles in a shaving accident, that would be like, a REAL tragedy.”

“I’m afraid not.” Said slimey Tone. “That’s what we would call a great loss.”

The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Blair searched the room in vain for an upraised hand. “Isn’t there anyone here who can give me a correct definition of the word 'tragedy?”

Finally, the teacher said: “If an aircraft carrying you, Mr. Blair, the cabinet and Mr Bush was struck by a ‘friendly’ missile fired by an American helicopter gunship and blown to smithereens, that would be a tragedy.”

“Fantastic!” exclaimed Blair. “That’s right. And can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?”

“Well...” replied the teacher, “it has to be a tragedy, because it certainly wouldn’t be a great loss and it probably wouldn’t be an accident either.”

Sixteen.

It is strange to realise what you have become.
When I was little I used to sit by my window and stare in to the incoming darkness and my dim reflection. I liked my reflection in windows. The face staring back at me was less complicated than myself. My freckles would vanish, my unruly hair that grew wider rather than longer would appear smooth, flowing in comparison. But although such a reflection failed to show the detail of my appearance it always managed to portray the details of my thoughts.
I always considered what I would one day become. Sixteen. That was all desired to be. Sixteen. Not too old, nor too young for any of the pleasures or pains the world has to offer. Sixteen. Would these freckles still be unwelcome invaders? Would my hair still be white blonde? Would it always be this wild? I prayed no to the latter.
I would be able to stay up until 10 o'clock, even 11 maybe. I would go to see live music every night. I would be in a band, a fantastic band that everyone adored, and I would have a boyfriend who was in that band too. Sixteen. Sixteen was all I wanted.
Sixteen. I sit by my window and stare in to the incoming darkness and my dim reflection.
Sixteen has not become the beacon of glory I anticipated – it is not perfect.
But I will confess, it is close.
I sit by my window and stare in to the incoming darkness and my dim reflection.
The little girl within me smiles.
It is strange to realise what you have become.

BlogTV

Sunday is the end of my 'Water Challenge' project for 'The Water Project' charity. I asked my Youtube subscribers to advertise my channel and get me subscribers and for each new subscriber I got I would donate 50p (which, if you're subscribed, you will shortly be getting news that I have in fact changed that to £1).

My subscribers have been so awesome in helping me out that I'm actually overwhelmed. I expected no-one to actually help! So, instead of just making a normal Youtube video I will be hosting a live BlogTV show on Sunday night for anyone who feels like coming.

Not only will it be to thank those amazing people but Monday is my birthday, so that will be nice too :)
I might even have a guest or two with me ;)

So, how about it? You should come, it'll be good. I'll be talking straight to you, seeing what you have to say and responding to it. It'll be a longdistance conversation between you and me.

See you there.

Sunday the 19th, 7:30pm GMT
(go here if you want to find out what time that'll be in your timezone: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/)

Click on the countdown to go to my BlogTV page, that's where I'll be :)

Be seeing you, sunshine

Brora.

I am just re-typing this blog because just as I finished typing it last time my mac died - not impressed.

My easter holidays are finished on Tuesday, which I guess is pretty bad times because that means exams are approaching far too quickly and I'm scared. Eeek.

Yesterday I went to a little place called Brora in the very North of Scotland to visit and meet a few of Stuart, my boyfriend's, extended family. I mean, so extended I confused myself. We went with his aunt, cousin and his cousin's granmother and met his 2nd cousin, her husband and his 2nd cousin's mother - phew.
They have two mega-friendly golden retrievers that are somehow distantly related to Stuart's dog too. But I'm not even getting in to that!

It was a nice day I guess. We had lunch etcetc and they're friendly folk. The best thing is they live right beside this beach.
Now, let's face it, practically noone lives in Brora. It has a population of 900 and most don't even know it exists. So this beach is pretty much deserted, which is a good thing I guess because it's so incredibly nice. Obviously it's nowhere near the nicest beach I've ever been on but for Scotland it's amazing because it's so nice and sandy and relatively clean.

The more 'VEDA' (vlog every day in April) videos I watch on Youtube the more I wish I was doing it. It looks like fun. Although to be honest I would probably do the original idea of 'blog every day in April' instead. But I guess it's a bit late now.

Anyway, that's pretty much it kids. Nothing exciting.

Be seeing you, sunshine

April Fools.

I don't like this day.
Why do we find it necessary to have one day a year where we are expected to, and have permission to prank one another?
In fact, why do we have one particular day a year for everything?
Take Mother's Day for example. Apparently, this one day is dedicated to telling the woman who created you, carried you around for 9 months, went through a lot of pain to put you in the world, raised you, spent a fortune on you and went through a huge amount of stress for you that you love her.
Now I personally would like to think that the majority of people on this earth, out of those who have one anyway, tell their mothers that they love them on a daily basis - I know I do. That's the way it should be. So really, Mother's Day is a 'Hallmark Holiday ' for pretty much any retailer to increase their sales and in turn, profits.

Reverting back to the original point - why do we need one day on which to prank people?
A 'prank' is surely defined as a practical joke which is unexpected, spontaneous and, more often than not, humiliating to the victim. So doesn't the idea of having a day-or in fact only half of one-created to try and 'prank' your friends, colleagues, family and enemies seem completely futile to you, with all these awaiting victims on high alert just waiting for you to pounce? Of course it does.

On top of that all possibly forms of media in the modern world decide that they too must get involved in the fun and games. April 1st is the most untrustworthy day of the year. You can't read a newspaper, watch television, listen to the radio or, god help us, read an e-mail without the slightest element of doubt. On every single website I have logged on to today there has been some form of 'joke'. Youtube has turned all its video players up-side-down, devinantArt has changed its Beta tester icons to snowmen (I ask you, why?)...the list could be endless.

And then there's the added confusion. Sure, April Fool's Day finishes at noon - or does it? Some people continue all day, some stop and get angry if you continue some live in different time zones...no one needs this confusion - the world is messed up enough.

On the plus side, hello my dears, how are you today?

I couldn't think of an original title.

My return to this blog, as you've maybe noticed, hasn't been very sucessful. I know it always seems to be excuses, excuses, excuses with me, but honestly, I underestimated this year. I'm doing five highers (which for you english folk, if any, are difficult exams you do near the end of your school life and 5 is the max. you are allowed to take.) And okay, I knew it would be a hard year, but jeeez.
I've already had to start studying for my final exams, which are in May. So every night I'm doing 2 hours of revision plus any homework, reading or essays I have to do. So basically, until about the second week of June, I have no life! So sorry.

As any British people will know, today is Red Nose Day. (If you're American and don't know what this is go look it up, but really, where've you been?).
So, as schools always do for chairty things, a 4th year 'soc and voc' class were told to organise a fundraising activity where people request songs, paying 50p each time, and then the top ten requested songs are played down the school tanoy system at the end of the week.
Bad Idea.
I've just had to endure 45 minutes of a playlist consisting of 'Taylor swift', 'Lady GaGa', 'Rihanna', 'Akon' and a load of other shitty, so-called "music" that was completely unescapable. The rest of the songs were all dance songs that all sounded the same - I didn't appreciate it. But the last straw was when a dance song started playing and I recognised the lyrics... I kept listening, and finally figured out what it was a re-mix of.
A FUCKING DANCE REMIX OF A YELLOWCARD SONG!!
I hate modern music. These kids don't know what music is.
I wish i had been born in the 40's when awesome people like Chuck berry were about. Then at least I'd be dying just now and I wouldn't have to see music detiorate and loose its dignity so much.

Anyway, have a good weekend and I'll blog at the next chance I get.
